Congratulations to UA Microbiology Undergraduate Haley WIlliams

Haley, a rising sophomore has been awarded an Undergraduate Reserch Fellowship by the American Society of Microbiology. These competitive awards support summer research, participation in national meetings, and professional development for promising young microbiologists. Haley is working with Drs. Joseph Spraker and Betsy Arnold to study interkingdom communication between bacteria and fungi. She will travel to Chicago and Atlanta to develop and present her work. She also will continue to be active in outreach to local schools, where she works with students interested in the microbial sciences. Her research already has been recognized with a first-place award in the 2017 UA Honors Expo, and she looks forward to publishing her work.
